Microsoft announced a few months ago that they will soon be entering a new service to their consumers: live television. At the time Microsoft did not reveal how it's going to do that. But recent reports suggests that the live TV services will be offered through the company's popular gaming console, Xbox 360.
Live TV coming on Xbox 360 isn't really a surprise. The gaming console is actually the best product for Microsoft to put on this kind of service. There are already 'apps' on the Xbox which allows the user to stream videos such as ESPN, YouTube and the likes. This week we learned that Microsoft is pushing for the Xbox TV and is already negotiating a deal with Comcast to provide the contents. Another report also suggests that Microsoft is forging a deal with Verizon Fios as well. So far the deals are yet to be made public and it is expected that it will still at least a few months before a deal is reached between these companies. In June, Microsoft revealed during the E3 gaming expo that the live television services they will offer will be made through the Xbox 360. They said that local channels, world/local news, sports, and all the other content available from television providers would be made available to the gaming console.
